Find out what’s happening in and around the school this month

Rights Respecting Schools

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded Rights Respecting Schools – Silver Rights Aware status. Silver – Rights Aware is the second stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award.

The award is granted by UNICEF UK to schools that show good progress towards embedding children’s rights in their policy, practice and ethos. The school was assessed by one of UNICEF UK’s Professional Advisers who looked at the whole school’s rights respecting work.

Achieving Silver: Rights Aware means that Deerpark is embedding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, promotes knowledge and understanding of the UNCRC throughout the school community and is seeing a positive impact of this on the school’s ethos, practice and environment.

The whole school community are delighted their efforts have been recognised and are now aiming to become a Gold Rights Respecting School.

House System Changes

House System Changes Following information gathered after a recent survey by House Captains, some changes have been implemented across the school.

All classes now have 4 coloured house cups, to allow house point buttons to be earned during class time when children display our school values.

This will also help all children to remember the names of each house and the house that they are part of!

This term the House Captains will be hosting a house meeting with all children from their houses involved.

Towards the end of the term, a fun challenge will be organised for classes whereby children can earn points for their house whilst working as part of their house team.
