Some primary 7 pupils have been enjoying Forest School sessions with Cat, Hollie (Our parent helper) and Mrs
Robertson.
In the woodland setting, they have been successfully working together in a range of different ways
e.g. shelter building, fire lighting, tool work, risky play, nature connection and exploration. The pupils are
developing personal skills, knowledge and understanding within these experiences too.
Here’s what some of the children had to say…..
‘We used a flint and steel to make a spark and light a fire, using cotton wool and kindling that had been
prepared. We sat at the campfire and had hot chocolate that we had also helped to make and toasted
marshmallows for smores. Setting a fire and being around a campfire shows responsibility and that we can be
safe.’‘We had lots of fun taking turns in the hammocks. We helped set the hammocks up and sometimes they
collapsed so we had to try again which showed resilience and problem solving.’‘We set up tarps as shelters under the trees and played games together like hot Potato. We worked together
to get the shelters up and made sure everyone had a role, which showed fairness.’
