Primary 7 Tree Planting

P7 went tree planting at Gartmorn Dam with representatives John and Barbara from the Development Trust and Aimee from TCV, alongside some other volunteers.

They planted the Gartmorn Dam’s first community orchard trees, bulbs to attract pollinators, and positioned a hedgehog house.

They also carried out an Autumnal scavenger hunt which helped learners identify different trees and plants and learn about mushrooms.

Our learners also foraged and had a campfire where they toasted marshmallows.

You can read all about this in the Alloa Advertiser

A fabulous day was had by all, and the adults that worked with the class, commended their efforts and attitudes and praised their positive representation of Deerpark.

Deerpark Primary School has been awarded a hat-trick of prestigious awards

Deerpark Primary School has been awarded a hat-trick of prestigious awards.
We have been recognised to a gold standard by School Sports Scotland, the Scottish Book Trust and Emotion Works.
The School Sports Scotland Gold Award recognises the school’s high level of participation in physical education, school sports events, clubs, and broader sports activities.
The school’s sports committee played a pivotal role in achieving the award, contributing to the action plan and providing the assessors with their own evidence.
The Gold Reading School Certificate from the Scottish Book Trust recognises the school’s dedication to cultivating a love of reading among its pupils. The committee was impressed by the extensive work put in by both staff and students to foster a vibrant reading culture. Key initiatives include visits from Macastory, reading cafés, a well-stocked library, book nooks, and classroom libraries.
The Gold Emotion Works Award, recognises the school’s exceptional implementation of the Emotion Works programme over the past three years. This comprehensive programme has supported learners to develop emotional literacy and identifying effective strategies for managing their emotions. From Primary 1 through to Primary 7, learners have embraced the programme, which has positively impacted both their emotional wellbeing and overall school experience.
The school’s headteacher Anne Rice is delighted with the trio of the awards and thanked staff, parents and pupils for their hard work and dedication.

What’s happening in school?

We would like to welcome Miss Lang to our

Miss Lang will join us on the 6th of January and will teach Primary 5 in place of Mrs Robertson who will be going off on maternity leave.

We would like to wish Mrs Robertson and
her family all the best.

The Parent Association would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fair.
This year we made £650.

This money went towards Deerpark Primary School visit to
the pantomime.
Thank you once again for all the support in
organising, donating to, and attending this
event.

On Tuesday 10th Dec the boys and girls at
