We’d be grateful if parents and carers could ensure that all school clothing, including PE kit is labelled so that any lost and found items can be returned to their owner as soon as possible.

Next Session 2016/17

Next session we will be welcoming Mrs Kelly, our new Depute Head Teacher, and Miss Fox, a new class teacher.

We will also be supported by another teacher who is yet to be confirmed, and Mrs Hutchison as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge.

It is possible that your child may have another teacher for up to one day a week to release their class teacher from class to work on school improvement and the Scottish Attainment Challenge. You will receive further information next session during the ‘Meet The Teacher’ events.

Classes and class teachers will be as follows for 2016/17.

Children will meet with their new class teacher on 16 or 17 June.

Staffing Update

As part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge, Morag Morton, Early Years Worker, will be part of the school team. She will be working with classes and small groups of children to support health and wellbeing.

We have recently appointed a new Depute Headteacher, Mrs Kelly. Mrs Kelly comes from a primary school in Stirling Council and will take up post in August 2016. We’d like to say a big thank you to Elaine Henderson and Carol Lindsay, the pupils and staff who supported the school throughout the recruitment process. We very much look forward to Mrs Kelly joining the team at Deerpark Primary School.

Primary and Early Learning and Childcare Reporting Session 2015-16

During this term you will receive your child’s end of session written report. We would like to take this opportunity to advise you the format of the report has been refreshed.

As you are aware, reporting comprises a range of activities including written reports, children presenting their learning to you, parents’ consultation meetings and on-going discussions. A working group was established earlier this session and the new ‘My Year of Learning’ document is the result of a process of consultation with a group of schools and nurseries.

We value our partnerships with families and welcome your views. As a result there will be an opportunity for all parents/carers to give feedback on the new format after the reports have been issued.

Realigning Children’s Services

Children in Primary 5, 6 and 7 are invited to take part in a survey by ScotCen Social Research.
The survey asks children about what they do and how they feel about their lives and is completed online during the week beginning 9 May.
All children in Primary 5, 6 and 7 have been given a letter to take home to parents and carers. If parents/carers do not wish their child to take part they should complete the tear off opt out slip and return to school before 9 May.
Children will also receive a leaflet explaining the purpose and procedures which include children being able to opt out of the survey themselves or choose to skip any question throughout the survey.
