P2J – Measure, Measure, Measure!

P2J have been investigating measure.  We have been learning about the standard units used to measure length – centimetres and metres. We took our learning outdoors into the Eco Garden and used metre sticks and rulers to measure the length and height of items – we even learnt how to use tape measures to measure items that are not flat like tree trunks and tyres.  Great investigating!

Time for Time in P2J

Time to learn about Time in P2!  We have been revising o’clock and half past and learning all about quarter to and past.  We are excited to watch the clock in the classroom to see what time it says!

We are learning about the history of transport.  We worked hard to research information and prepare a talk for our classmates about a form of transport that interests us.  We have heard about trains, planes, cars,  bikes  – and telehandlers!

We worked in our groups to try and put in the correct when different forms of land transport were invented – from the wheel, to the first roads, to early cars.   Great co-operative learning!

Busy time in P2A – but ‘wheely’ good fun too!

Sharing our Transport talks.  We had to prepare a talk about a type of transport and share facts and information about how it has developed and changed over time.

We are learning to read and set o’clock, half past, quarter to/past times.  We have been playing games in the classroom.

We have been learning about land transport this week and how it has changed and developed over time.  We have been learning about time-lines and enjoyed trying to order and sequence the development and innovations in land transport.

We enjoy our weekly smartboard spelling sessions – where we learn strategies and practice spelling our new common words.

P2A – A wonderful week!

Springtime and celebrating our Mums!

We have enjoyed looking for signs of Spring on our daily mile and have been painting daffodils in the classroom.  We are taking our paintings home along with our Mothers’ Day Writing.  We have been focusing on using adjectives in our writing so we used lots of adjectives to describe our amazing Mums!

P6 Reading Buddies Session

This week we enjoyed our second session with our P6R Reading Buddies.   Our buddies read us a story and we read our reading books aloud to them, finishing with a five finger retell of our story.

Learning French with Camembear!

We were learning about Camembear’s life in France this week and we practised sharing our names in French in our learning circle.

P2J – What a busy week!

In maths we have been ordering numbers to 100 and sorting odd/even numbers with Numicon.

We have combined art with science this week.  They experimented with diffusion using coffee filter papers, pens and water to create beautiful butterflies.

At the very start of P2, the children decided they needed to do something about the litter in the playground.  We still go on regular litter picks and recently introduced ‘Wrapper Free Wednesday’ to help reduce the amount of litter in the first place.  Everyone can help us do our bit for our school environment!

We have also had our very first session with our P6 reading buddies this week.  This is a great opportunity for the P2s to practice their reading and for the P6s to take on a responsible role – as well as being great fun!
