history of the turra coo

The turra coo was made in turriff three years ago (2010)

In 1911 a man called Robert Patterson refused to pay the compulsory three pence per stamp and for this he was fined £15. And one of his cows was to be sold at public auction in the town’s market square. A mr . S . gordon  acquired the cow from macduff. The rope that the cow was tied on to was cut so the animal could escape. It was later caught and taken to be sold in aberdeen where it was bought for £7 by a group of local farmers.

The coo in turriff is made of metal.
