Good morning everyone and welcome back to Methlick’s Book Club!
Have you heard that J.K. Rowling has recently released a new story titled ‘The Ickabog’? It is free and will be published online throughout the coming months.
Instead of us all reading different books, I thought it would be lovely if we read this new story together. Each week, we will read a new chapter, discuss the story so far and complete activities. Activities will be posted on a Monday and we will discuss our responses on a Friday.

I have printed out the first couple of chapters. I am not very good at reading things online, need a hard copy.

What is your opinion on the book so far?
I think the story so far is a bit slow but it is only the first chapter. I like the idea of the richness of the country and surrounding countries and the poor people having the legend of the ickabog
Who do you think the main character is?
I think the main character is the king because he is the only one who has been mentioned descriptively.
What do you think will happen next?
I think we will hear the legend of the ickabog and find out what it is I also think word will get to the king that the ickabog will come out of hiding.
Hello Alex! You’re ahead, we were going to be sharing our impressions on the blog tomorrow 🙂 This is fantastic, thank you for sharing. My predictions are very similar to yours – I believe that Fred’s friends, Spittleworth and Flapoon will somehow convince him to go in search of the Ickabog. Afraid of his reputation being tarnished and losing the title of Fearless, Fred will go in search of the creature.
