Big Dance!

On Friday the whole school and nursery took part in an attempt to break the Guinness world record for  ‘The Largest Simultaneous Dance Routine’. Many schools and organisations around the world joined in….check back later this term to find out if the record was broken.Unfortunately the video was too big to post here but If you’d like to see it, click here. (Glow login required.) Thank you to Mrs Cruickshank and the P6 and P7 girls for helping us all to learn the dance.

***Competition reminder***

Primary 7 bloggers need your entries to the comic strip competition by 18th May. Your comic strip can be about anything you like. It might be funny (your favourite joke maybe?) or it might just tell a story. Hand your entries to your class teacher. Fab prizes for the winners!

Eco Week

This week children have been busy taking part in environmentally friendly activities as part of Eco Week. Primary 1/2 have been making their own recycled paper. It looked like lots of fun. (And very messy!) Primary 5/6/17 and 6/18 are having a Swap Shop on the last day of term, bringing in toys, books and games to exchange with one another. Primary 5 have been spreading the Eco message by helping every child in the school plant a seed. They wanted to show how easy it is to grow your own plants, and how it can cost very little to get started. They have worked hard to limit the amount of litter in the school grounds this term, and presented a short play to the rest of the school to encourage everyone to use the bins. Their super-hero, Captain Litter, will be out in the playground to keep an eye on things! Here are a few photos from our very busy week.

The Twits in Primary 5/5

Primary 5/5 have been reading The Twits by Roald Dahl. As part of their work for World Book Day, they have written some new chapters for the book. But they need your help! Please vote for your favourite new ‘trick’ over on their class blog here. And if you love Roald Dahl books as much as they do you might like this website. ( By the way, there are NO twits in Primary 5/5, despite the title of this post!)

Primary 5 and Primary 4 Burns celebrations

On Wednesday the partitions between the classrooms came down and P5 and P4 enjoyed an afternoon of poetry, song and dance to celebrate the birth of Robbie Burns. The haggis was piped in and addressed by children from P5/5. P4/6 recited the Selkirk grace and then it was time for juice and shortbread before the competition began. Each class had worked really hard to learn their poems, and all of the finalists did a fantastic job. The afternoon ended with a performance of Highland dancing, followed by Auld Lang Syne.
