p6/7.5 have been making dodecahedrons for maths, a dodecahedron is a cube with 6 square based pyramids on each face

Mr Richardson is currently running an after school art class for primary 5s. This week they have been making little people

The P5s have made 3D shapes. Here are some pictures. Some of the shapes are cuboids, square based pyramids, Triangular prisms, Cubes and Cones

P4s have been busy making African huts, they are all amazing. Thay have also been making Diwali posters. It looks as if the have worked really hard on them.

Mrs Robertson’s class have been making a display of paper fireworks they are fantastic! Also Mrs Lima’s class has made a display of  a pond with frogs ,they look super cute!

On Tuesday the 20th of  November the netball squad had a game against Monquitter.  The squad had 6 games and won them all.  Everyone played really well  Markethill and Monquitter.  Although Markethill won Monquitter try there hardest.   The final score from all the games was Markethill 27 Monquitter 5

Mrs Davidsons class have been making paper mashy planets and they have been making Diwalie lights. They have also been designing new uniforms for their teacher.

Welcome to switch off fortnight 2012, we are the Markethill Eco-committee and we have a challenge for you.

SWITCH OFF AND SAVE

We would like to see if we can reduce the amount of electricity we are using and wasting at home and at school.

We need to save electricity because making electricity using fossil fuels pollutes the environment.  Also Fossil fuels will run out one day .  Then we won’t have petrol or diesel for our cars or oil for our central heating.

So what can you do to help reduce pollution?  Switch off and save.  When you are not using a light switch it off.   When you are finished with the tv switch it off, don’t leave it on stand by.   When you are finished on the computer switch it off properly.  Don’t over fill the kettle when making hot drinks. Don’t spend more time than you need in a very hot shower.

Would you like some eco stickers for your house?  To win stickers and an eco badge you have to try and save electricity at home.  Then get your parents or guardian to comment below about what you’ve been doing to save electricity.
