P2M Children’s Choice PE

Today, P2M were the PE teachers! They worked in small groups to design a PE station.

Then they had to think about the resources they needed and get them all set out the way they wanted.

After that, they had to test out their station and think about the skills that were being developed.

Finally, they had to demonstrate how their station could be used and explain about the skills. Then it was time to have fun! Well done P2M, great team work today.

P6C Climate Change Cafe

This morning P6C welcomes parents and grandparents to our Climate Change Cafe. We served tea, coffee (in reusable mugs) and climate change themed cakes. We loved sharing our learning about climate change with our parents. Altogether we raised an amazing £51.25 for the World Wildlife Fund who do lots of work with animals who are being affected by climate change. Thank you to everybody who came along to support us!

p3F Golf Skills

We are Learning golf skills.  Two boys brought in their golf clubs and gave us a talk. They told us about the different clubs and how to hold the club and swing properly. We investigated angles after looking at the head of the clubs. We also used the golf balls to help us with finding out the fraction of a number!

Potato Power!

P6R turned scientists today, learning how to turn a potato into a battery.  We harnessed the chemical power of the potato (the juice in the potato acted as the electrolyte) using washers and pennies as our electrodes. We used crocodile leads to connect the electrodes of different potatoes and to connect the electrodes to the multimeter.  We could measure the electrical current in our circuit using the multimeter.

We experimented to see if we could create a higher current by using more potatoes and to see if different vegetables and fruit also worked.

During our Climate Action work we have learnt that the overuse of fossil fuels is a big factor in contributing to climate change and scientists are working hard to discover more  sustainable sources of energy – like the potato!

Spring is sprung!

We went on a walk around the school to see if we could find signs of spring. We saw beautiful flowers and blossom on the trees.  Imogen also told us about Mrs Garretts lambs who live near her grandma. We drew some pictures and wrote about what we could see.
