Primary 5~Health and Wellbeing

Today, Primary 5 have been looking at and discussing the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators. Wellbeing is central to getting it right for pupils and making sure they are Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Responsible, Respected and Included (SHANARRI). The pupils usedMy wellbeing web’ to self-assess how they feel in school and wrote a short description to explain their score (1-10) #selfassessment #GIRFEC #healthandwellbeing #shanarri

Aberdeen Science Centre

P6 enjoyed a fun and informative morning at Aberdeen Science Centre as part of our space theme.

Inside the planetarium we learnt all about the possibility of life on other planets and in the Destination Space workshop we considered what life would be like in the International Space Station.  Ask your children about it, you may be surprised by some of the facts they learnt!

2D Shapes

P1A have been exploring, naming and creating with 2D Shape

We have been learning about shapes this week.  Learning to recognise,  name  and to talk about the properties of 2D shapes.

We have focused on circles, squares, triangles, rectangles and semi-circles.

We created shape pictures and then had to name and count all the 2D shapes we had used.  Take a look …

The sun is shining above my houses. Lana

My rocket is in space. Callum

I made a robot. Liam

The stars make it a night time picture. Isla J

We have also enjoyed listening to the shape song.

P6C Space STEM Challenge

This week, P6C were challenged to design and build a landing pod for a very special baublenaut. We only had a limited selection of materials to use including string, sellotape, straws, lollipop sticks and paper. We tested our landing pods outside to see which baublenauts would survive the landing. Four out of seven baublenauts landed without breaking. Afterwards, we reflected on our group work skills and our design and we discussed how we think we could have made improvements.

P7 Get Cycling

What fun we had today trying out all sorts of bikes, go carts and tandems. Extra house points to those who managed to ride the penny farthing.

p3s Food Bank Collections

Both P 3 classes have been collecting food for the Banchory Food Bank as part of our community links. We made posters to tell the whole school all about it. We made sure that our posters had a big bold title, information and an illustration.

Thank you to everyone who has donated something for the Food Bank.
