Music Smart

It’s not all about playing classical piano or having the voice of an angel. If you’ve ever sung Happy Birthday, then you have Music Smarts!

Hum tunes or tap rhythms with your hands and feet? Yup. You’re using your Music Smarts. Check out the examples below:

Kodaly
Kodaly is a type of singing lesson where we use our whole body as well as our voices and in collaboration to make the learning of musical concepts fun, engaging and memorable. Learn more here.

Composing Music
This year, the children had music sessions with Mr Watt in term 1. They learned about and tried different instruments, as well as made their own music on Garage Band. Below are songs from Gordon and Kai.

Kai’s Song:

Playing Instruments
Several of our students play instruments. Here’s a couple of short videos of Senna, Ella and Molly playing the piano.

Singing
Lots of singing happens throughout the year, from Kodaly with Mr Mack to chanting on bus trips. Here’s a sneak preview of us practising a song from our Christmas show:

Dancing
Dancing is also a great way to build those music smarts. Here are some pics of us having a boogie in class:
