P2-4 – The usual spelling practice and assessment has been set on Sumdog. If you have done these already, you could do some spelling training. There is also the Maths fluency option. If you don’t have your log in details, email me and I can help.
-
Share a book with someone at home, or read to yourself.
-
Write a silly story using all of your spelling words.
-
Practice number bonds to 10, 20 or 100 (as appropriate).
-
Create a picture or a tiling pattern using only 2D shapes (square, rectangle, triangle, circle, oval, pentagon, hexagon etc).
-
Create a winter wonderland picture. You could use coloured pens or pencils, paint, or even create a collage.
-
Think about what animals you have in your garden. What are they doing in this cold weather? Is there anything you can do to help them? Perhaps put out some fresh water, or bird food, then wait to see who comes to eat or drink. Can you identify any of the birds?
Learning in P5-7 20.11.2025
Good morning P5-7,
here are a few activities for you to work on today, should you get the chance.
- Sumdog challenge- log on and have a go at the practice task or the competition. If you can’t remember login details, send me an email and we will get it to you.
- Snowflakes- find out all about snow here.
- Check out the snowflake shapes above. How many different symmetrical snowflakes can you draw?
- 3D shape snow city – Build a city from snow using only 3D shapes (cubes, cuboids, pyramids…) You could use tupperware, cups, buckets to mold the show. Remember to take a photo of your creation!
- Observe the birds – Sit near a window and make a note of how many birds and which different species visit your garden. If you have bird seed, put it out to attract the birds to where you are watching them.

Children in Need
A big thank you to everyone who sent in a donation for Children in Need on Thursday. P5-7 did a great job organising games and activities and judging the competitions. We had jokes, dancing, drawing and designing, a quiz and some fantastic outfits! We raised £45 this year, a fantastic amount for a wee school!
P4/5/6/7 Sharing our opinion
On Wednesday we had visitors to our class from Marr Area Partnership and Action for a Fairer World. The reason for their visit was to ask for children’s views and opinions on Braemar, which will be shared with the Community Council and contribute towards the Community Action Plan.

Contrasting Bonfire Art in P5,6,7
Remember remember the 5th of November 🔥🎆🎇
Pupils in p5,6,7 celebrated Guy Fawkes by creating watercolour artwork of bonfires. We used contrasting shapes (organic and geometric), and contrasting colours (warm and cool).

PC Cain visit to Room 2
Today we had a visit from our local police officer PC Cain. In the playground she showed us her police car, the important things she carries in the boot such as a broom and traffic cones and she also put the siren on. It was very loud! After that we went to the hall and tried on some pieces of police uniform. We had so much fun trying on coats, hats, vest and learned about why she carries handcuffs, radio and a baton. This visit concludes our IDL topic: People who help us. Thank you PC Cain!
A visit from the police
PC Alex came to school today. She showed us the police car and everything which is kept inside. She also showed us how the lights and siren work! Soon, she is going to come back and talk to our class about how to stay safe when we are out and about.
