Outdoor Classroom Day 2019

On Thursday 23rd May, Rm 3  spent much of the day taking our learning outside. We walked down to the castle to sketch the building. (Slightly tricky on a cold and windy day, hence the crumpled paper!) In the afternoon we worked in the school garden, weeding and preparing the raised beds and taking photos of the plants. Next week we shall use a clever app to help us identify the plants growing in the school grounds. We worked as a team to measure the playground to begin to make a map of the school site.

Litter Pick

On Monday 13th May, as part of the Cairngorms Nature Big Weekend, the Rangers from NTS Mar Lodge Estate helped the children and staff of Braemar Primary School with a litter pick in the village. They cleared litter from around the play park, Creag Choinnich woods, Kindrochit Castle and Castleton Hall. Once back at school they weighed all the litter and found they had collected 7.5kg. This community Clean Up is part of their journey in gaining the Keep Scotland Beautiful Eco –Schools Green Flag Award.

Aboyne p7s transition

On Thursday the 9th of May all of the Primary 7s went to Aboyne Academy to get ready for our transition. We left at 8:40 so we could get there for 9:30 in time for the Assembly. When we first got there we listened to Mr Drennan and he explained what was going to happen and then we listened to music played by the pupils already there and it was really good. After that we had the S3 pipers and the a drama production of Mamma Mia. At 10:30 we went to break and we all mixed in and found some friends. We went back to the theatre and were split into different rooms Walker 1 to Walker 6. When we were in the rooms we had to do ice breakers, some of them included guessing who wrote the note and we had to order ourselvess from oldest to youngest. Then we got split into groups again and went to plan the start of our board games. At 12;00 we went for our lunch and I sat next to my new friends.  At 12;45 we went back to our rooms and our groups and were told to design our board games and deiced what we had to do when we went away. We also had lots of fun with our groups and we spread out and had fun. On the 28th of May we are going back to have some more fun but we have to get the bus from home.

P7 transitions

To start off the day we had to be at school at twenty to nine so we could catch the mini bus. On the way to go to Aboyne we had to stop and pick up Logan from Crathie. When the trip was done we got sent to go to the theatre to watch some performances. The first performance was the S1s singing and playing stitches. The next performance was two S3s  playing the bagpipes and after that, some S3s did a short play about Mamma Mia. Finally  5 S1s spoke about their first few days as S1s. When all that finished we got put into 5 different groups and got taken to the Walker Building to do some icebreaker challenges. The first challenge was to get in height order then last name order in alphabetical order. The last challenge was to get into age order.  After all the games, we got put into our board game groups and started designing our board games. There are multiple different jobs for the board game and we both chose the customer review. After that Mr. Drennen said a few words and that he was proud of us.
