Slow Marathon!!!

P1 to P5 took part in the Slow Marathon.

277 people walked around the field today.

We all walked round the field in silence.

Then we went to the all weather pitch and made the word SLOW.

Mihret,Ross and Norma Hunter from Deveron Arts helped us spell the word.

A photographer called Jan took a photo from the school playground which we hope to put on this blog soon.

Altogether each person walked 1319 metres.

The grand total that we walked was 227 miles.

Slow Marathon

Primary 4 joined in with the Slow Marathon (organised by Deveron Arts) by walking down the Avenue and around the Hill of Haugh several times before returning to school. The walk covered a mile, and as 53 people took part they were able to contribute 53 miles to the Slow Marathon, bringing the grand total of miles donated to 5,703 now!

On Thursday p1-5 will all take part in the Slow Marathon together, walking around the playing fields.

Slow Marathon

Gordon Primary is going to join in with the Slow Marathon, organised by Deveron Arts.

Ethiopian artist Mihret Kebede would like to have walked 5850 from her home town of Addis Ababa to Huntly.  This is not possible for her alone, so she is asking the people of Huntly to help her achieve this goal.

On 17th March there will be a Slow Marathon around Huntly, where walkers will walk around the hills of Huntly (the Battlehill, the Clashmach, the Ba’Hill and the Bin).

Pupils from Gordon Primary will be going on a walk in March (date to be confirmed) and sending details to Mihret so that she can add them to her total. If every pupil walked one mile, this could add almost 400miles to Mihret’s total!
