Welcome to Southmuir Primary School.
We are situated in the beautiful town of Kirriemuir at the base of the Angus glens. Kirriemuir is known as the Gateway to the Glens and attracts outdoor enthusiasts, keen to explore the nearby Munroes. At Southmuir, we too are enthusiastic about the outdoors and recognise the benefit of outdoor learning. This year we are excited to be developing our own outdoor classroom which will provide a motivating learning environment and help develop an awareness of our dependence on nature.
We have a school roll of 200 in P1-7 across 9 classes and a further 30 children in Nursery.
As a school we recognise how extremely important the partnership between the home and the school is in order for your child to receive the best from his/her education and so mutual understanding and co-operation between them is greatly encouraged.
At Southmuir Primary School we have always had excellent links with Websters High School and in 2015 we began to trial the idea of a campus school. The trial was so successful that it became permanent in February 2017. This means that we have shared headship with Websters High School and our staff work closely to ensure that your child has a truly seamless journey from age 2-18.
The aim of Southmuir Primary School is to provide the very best education possible to all children. We feel it is important to establish an environment which is secure, trusting, happy and where learning experiences are made as enjoyable as possible.
We look forward to working together with you to help your child fulfil their potential.
