Each session, learners from each class can apply to be part of the Carlogie School Council. Following successful application and interview, one pupil from each Primary 1-6 class is identified as Class Rep. For Primary 7s, one School Captain is identified to lead each of our four School Houses. Class Reps and School Captains make up our School Council and are supported by Mrs Haigh (Depute Head Teacher).
The Rep asks classmates for ideas and suggestions about issues which really matter to them. These can be tiny or huge and cover a wide range of areas. Over the past few years they have helped to bring suggestions for fund raising events within school and been successful in running tuck shops and cake sales. They have raised money for school, local and national charities. They help to liaise with classes about dress down days and help events in school run smoothly.
Over the years the School Council have brought questions and concerns from all their classes on matters such as the playground, the school library, tuck shops, learning, sports events and toilets (always a discussion of great importance!)
They really are the children’s voice for the things that matter to them.
