Thought I’d share this article from HuffPost Uk about the apparent disparity between pupils’ expectations of higher education and what they experience in actuality:
“Research from the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) found that many university applicants do not have a good understanding of what it will be like to study for a degree or the time they will spend in lectures and the academic support they will get.” – The Huffington Post
Schools, parents and universities, not to mention policymakers, all need to help school-leavers get real about their expectations. But, where applicants’ expectations are reasonable, the whole higher education sector needs to consider what more should be done to meet them. “The findings of this report show a number of areas in which applicants’ expectations do not match up to reality.” – Richard Smith, chief executive of Unite Students.
