Shared Reading is a successful interactive reading technique, and one we use here in Brechin High School. Typically, senior pupils will read alongside less confident, junior readers. The shared reading of a book or other text is guided and supported by a teacher or librarian, who, “explicitly model the skills of proficient readers, including reading with fluency and expression.” – Reading Rockets.

Involving parents in their children and teenagers’ reading has never been more topical – or vital. So why not choose one of the many ‘crossover’ novels from the teenage fiction genre – stories that appeal to teenagers and adults alike! – and enjoy an interactive reading experience time with your son or daughter? Your own mini book club, if you will! 😉
