Found this on the WHSmith blog! It’s competition time for first years!
“Those of you that joined in last year will be very excited to hear that the Jacqueline Wilson Creative Writing Prize is back for a second year! This year Jacqueline is asking 7-11 year olds to write a fictional letter to someone who lives far away. Jacqueline explains,
“Maybe you could imagine a best friend has moved far away and you want to keep in touch? Are you writing to an imaginary relative who lives abroad? You could pretend you’re in your teens or twenties and you’re writing to a loved one far off in a war-torn country? Perhaps you’re a huge fan of an imaginary rock star or footballer or celebrity who lives in some far off magical mansion? Write a letter to anyone, as long as they are made-up characters, but try to make it the best letter ever!”
The winner will get their winning letter published in a forthcoming book by Jacqueline Wilson (!!) plus a chance to meet the lady herself, £100 worth of books, a year’s subscription to First News and a bundle of books for their school! It’s an incredible prize and we know little ones around the country will be thinking hard about who to write their letter to. And so to help you write the best letter ever, we’ve got five top tips from Jacqueline Wilson herself to help you get started. Good luck!! – WHSmith
