Today is National Apple Day how exciting! Why on earth does Britain have a National Apple Day you might ask? Well, it was launched in 1990 to act as a reminder that we need to protect our apples which Britain produces lots of and in many varieties. This is because we are losing acres of apple orchards in the United Kingdom to make way for housing or town development, and we would not want to import one of our most successful fruits into the country as that would be expensive and not ecological.
