Shocking reports have reached the library of senior pupils disrupting learning & teaching throughout BHS!
Bursting into classrooms unannounced, S6 pupils have staged “imprompu” Book Slams throughout S1/2 classes this World Book Day. In celebration of the day, and with the prior knowledge/blessing of participating teachers,
brave S6 pupils grabbed attention by slamming specially selected books down on desks and then reading ‘short and shocking’ or ‘short and funny’ extracts to a rapt audience of S1/2s. As senior pupils exited stage left – with only a digi-camera wielding librarian trailing in their wake – teachers engaged their shell-shocked classes in a discussion about the short story they had just heard – and disseminated information about World Book Day in general.
The Book Slams created a real buzz about books and reading in school – and were a slammin’ success! Thank you Ronald, Sean, Catriona, Aden and Cameron!
