In maths this week children used the laptops to work on mental math skills.  Groups were working with partners to play a game called ‘Where is my number?’ We used the interactive whiteboard to learn about the greater than, less than, equal to and not equal to symbols.

Everyone was really focused during our writing lesson and I am really pleased with the effort and lovely joined handwriting being produced.

During guided reading we have been working individually and in groups.  A big focus is on comprehension and referring back to the text to help answer more complex questions.  We are working on answering in sentences and learning about text features.

As you will have seen from homework, we are having a bigger focus on spelling in class and really trying to help children understand and use what they learn in all of their work and not just for a spelling test.  P4 focused on the a-e phoneme this week and had a bit of fun trying to work together to come up with as many words as they could.

The children were learning about saving energy and linked to the homework task, had to come up with 4 things they could do to help conserve energy.  They all had some fantastic ideas and I’m sure you can help encourage them to carry them out.

Mrs Cox worked with the children on Thursday afternoon in the Studio.  They are focusing on having a healthy mind and ways to deal with different feelings and emotions.  The children seem to really enjoy this session and Mrs Cox has commented on what a great job they are doing.

Have a great weekend!
