In maths this week we are finishing work on information handling.  The children are starting to set out their own graphs on squared paper. They have been learning how to use accurate scales, correctly label each axis and add titles to their graphs.

We are now starting to learn about the properties of 2D shapes and 3D objects, nets of 3D objects and tiling patterns.

This week the pupils have been playing spelling games in class. They worked together to try and think of as many ai and ay words as they could.

We had to abandon our Daily Mile on Thursday as the rain came back on quite quickly! The children managed a few laps of the playground before coming back inside.

This week is Recycling Week, which links very nicely with our topic. Look out for a recycling maths activity coming home for homework – this can be done over whatever timescale you feel is best for your household.  (Thanks in advance.)

In class we have been looking at how different items are recycled. The children also took part in an estimation quiz in table teams. Some of the facts were truly incredible! Well done to the Green table for the best guesses overall!

Finally, thank you so much for the wonderful reading homework handed in this week. I have been really impressed by the standard and have shared some excellent examples with the class. I’m looking forward to seeing the next lot!
