Basketball

We have been practising our dribbling skills in basketball with the students from RGU. They have taught us a lot of new skills to help us perfect our technique.

First Aid

We have been first aid experts today. We know how to act in an emergency involving an allergic reaction and can tie a bandage and sling correctly.

Substance Misuse

During our substance misuse topic, we tried to do some simple activities wearing glasses that replicate some of the effects of alcohol on our vision. We know about the long term and short term effects alcohol has on the body.

Google Texthelp Workshop

We had some visitors to our class today who came all the way from Norway. We wanted to show them our digital technology skills and how to use the Google software called Texthelp. We think they learned a lot of new digital skills from us.

Planting Seeds

We planted our seeds today. Our aim is that we will have enough lettuce, corriander  and basil to make something nice to eat at the end of term. We will have to be responsible for watering the seeds every other day and recording their growth on a progress chart. We have been learning a lot about sustainability and the impact our actions have on the environment so growing our own food is a great way to avoid waste.

North East Biodiversity Partnership Awards

Yesterday, Primary 6 attended the North East Biodiversity Partnership Awards at the James Hutton Institute. Here we learned a lot about what young people can do for the environment and nature around us. We sang our two songs about the Denburn and gave a talk about what we have been learning. We even got to take some wildflowers home to plant, these encourage wildlife to live in our gardens.

Victorian Prisons

We have been learning about life in a Victorian prison. We did some fun versions of the activities prisoners had to do. We had to keep silent or we would have to start again. We are looking forward to our trip to the Victorian classroom next Friday!
