We have had a brilliant World Book Day!  We started with a Where’s Wally Treasure Hunt with P5/6 out in the playground.  In class, we created digital books about our favourite book, created A3 front covers and read our reading books to each other.  We also voted for our favourite door in the school and our favourite costume from our class.  Winners will be announced at assembly on Friday.  In the afternoon P5/6 came down to read stories to us.   We enjoyed this a lot.  We read Clara’s book ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ and are looking forward to the parade this afternoon.

Here is our finished door for Workd Book Day based on Dinosaurs Love Underpants.   We are looking forward to seeing the other classes next week and voting for our favourite.  Clara has been trying to drum up extra votes for our class!  😀

Today has been a very busy day!  We visited the Taj Mahal, we went into space, we swam with sharks and even came face to face with some dinosaurs!

No set homework this week because of the short week.  You can still practise your Learn Its every day and go over your words and sounds.

You will receive a letter home today asking you (the parent) to write down your favourite book and why you like it.  The children will complete the same activity at school.  It would be helpful if you could discuss with your child what their favourite book is and why they like it to help them when they complete their literacy brick at school.  Thank you!

Well done to everyone who recited their Scottish poems.  Big congratulations to our finalists who performed their poem in front of P1 -P3 today.  We hope you enjoyed listening to our song ‘Three Craws’ in the playground.

We have been learning about the artist Piet Mondrian.  We discovered he liked to use primary colours in his work.  We created our own Mondrian style pieces to make 2017 calendars.
