Today we began our first posters of the features found in a non-fiction text. These features include a glossary, index, headings, table of contents.
We have chosen our own book so most of us have chosen a book on a topic that we are interested in or else do not know a lot about!!
We will continue these throughout the week.
C– Counting: Reading Numbers (Steps 7, 8, 9): I can read 6, 5, 4 digit numbers
L– Learn Its: (Steps 4 & 5): Adding 2 to numbers from 1-20 at speed (Revision of 5x tables) Use the link below to challenge yourself to Hit the QUESTION!!!!! And practise 5x to gold level!!
I– It’s Nothing New: Smile Multiplication (Steps 3): I can write Smile Multiplication Fact Families.
C– Calculations: Addition (Step 30 & 31): I can solve any 3d + 3d as money
Children need to learn their spellings. There will continue to be a spelling test on a Friday however they all know that they can decide how they would like to learn these words.
I would recommend they learn the list they have written in class on Monday, then on Tuesday, write a list of words and learn them, the same on Wednesday and then on Thursday they can choose a fun spelling activity of their choice
We have used many different activities in class and for homework over the last two terms, so children should be familiar with activities to use. If they are unsure, they can choose from this list:
- Blue Vowels
- Vowel Circle
- Rainbow Write
- Elkonin Boxes
- Diacritical Marking
Or ask in class or use this website for additional ideas:
Our new topic is Titanic. Please remember to bring in any information, pictures, photos, posters, items that you have at home to add to our classroom.
Both Kai and Megan have brought in Lego constructions of the Titanic that they had at home. You can see the ship alongside the iconic iceberg!!
Keep them coming!!
