Sharing our learning

Weekly Update

We’ve had a very exciting day today! In the morning we had our Achiever’s Assembly and heard about all of the wonderful things Abbotswell pupils have been doing.

We had a surprise visit from the Road Safety Magic Show where we saw some amazing magic tricks and learned all about the 4 steps to crossing the road safely:
– Stop
– Look
– Listen
– Think

In the afternoon primary 2 started to make some River Nile Dioramas featuring the Great Pyramids, and the Sphinx! We can’t wait to finish them and show them off.

We have also found out how our names look in Hieroglyphics.

Our sound this week has been ‘ch’ and in maths we have been looking at numbers to 100 and filling in missing numbers in a 100 square. We will be moving on to place value in the coming week.

It was great to see so many of you at Parent’s Evening – if you were not able to attend, but would like to come in for a chat, please send me a message and we can arrange a time that suits!

I think we’re all ready to have a relaxing weekend!

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Cole!

Happy birthday to you,
On this your special day.
We’re so glad to share it with you,
To bring gifts, eat cake and play.

We hope you have a great time,
And that all your wishes come true.

A happier birthday than you!

Weekly update

Happy Friday!

It’s been a busy week in Abbotswell!

We had our pupil council elections on Thursday, so stay tuned to find out who is going to be the class rep for P2.

We also had a successful sponsored walk today with some nice weather too – lots of tired legs when we got back!

In class we have been working on the ‘ee’ sound in phonics and spelling. We also started our CLIC maths sessions this week.

We are working on:

C – counting in 10s from 0 to 100 and backwards from 100 to 0

L – Jigsaw numbers to 10

I – doubling and halving within 10

C – Counting on from a number to 10

If anyone has any questions about these topics, please feel free to get in touch!

Thanks for reading our blog!

Happy Weekend!

After a busy first full week back, all of primary 2 are looking forward to a relaxing weekend!

We’ve been working very hard on getting back into classroom routines and getting to know each other.

We have finished our first novel – Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl and we will be able to watch sections of the film to compare and contrast the two versions of the story!

We have been enjoying working with our buddies in primary 4 who have joined us for some paired reading and some choosing time!

For your information:

Reading books will start to come out at some point during the next week and homework books will follow shortly after.

Thanks for reading our blog post,

Miss Allardyce
