S5 & S6 Lessons from Auschwitz Online

Our school has been given four places for the upcoming Lessons from Auschwitz Online with the Holocaust Education Trust.

Lessons from Auschwitz Online will take place in November, offering S5 and S6 students the opportunity to learn about the Holocaust and its relevance today through a ground-breaking, interactive, digital platform, and online Live Sessions led by experts in Holocaust education.

Participating students will have access to the new Lessons from Auschwitz Online learning platform to complete self-guided learning modules and use cutting edge virtual reality technology to view key sites at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Memorial and Museum. Participants will also hear from a Holocaust survivor who will share their testimony and answer questions. The course will be led by specialist educators who will guide students’ learning throughout the project and students will be expected to attend three online Live Sessions.

Students will be expected to complete a series of self-guided learning modules through which they will learn about pre-war Jewish life, explore the history of Auschwitz-Birkenau and reflect on the contemporary relevance of the Holocaust. After completing the online programme, students will then work on their Next Steps, helping to disseminate the lessons they’ve learned from the course.

Find out more about Lessons from Auschwitz Online here.

Pupils interested in participating, should email Mrs Üstün at gw10ustunalison@ab-ed.org , answering the following:
• why you would like to take part
• what you would hope to gain from the course
• how you would share what you learn within the wider school community

Please ensure you would be able to get consent from your parents.

Eva’s mother is one of the remarkable women featured in Born Survivors by Wendy Holden: The incredible true story of three pregnant mothers and their courage and determination to survive in the concentration camps.  It’s a fantastic book which comes highly recommended.
