The theme of this year’s Book Week Scotland is friendship, so with this in mind, our whole school competition will look at famous friends from well-known books.
The prize for pupils will be a £10 Amazon voucher. The staff winner will get a box of chocolates.
Congratulations to our winners, Maria and Ms Fyfe 🙂
It’s Book Week Scotland from the 17th to the 23rd of November!
To celebrate, we have a competition for S1 and S2 pupils.

It’s Teachers’ Reading Challenge time again 🙂
Until the end of October, teachers have been challenged to read and explore children’s and YA fiction.
Ask your teachers about what they’ve been reading and give them your suggestions.

Our school library now has a subscription to What on Earth! magazine 🙂
Each issue is bursting with fascinating facts and articles, photos, quizzes, puzzles, and so much more.
You can read the magazines in the library, but if you’d like to complete the puzzles and quizzes ask Mrs Üstün for a photocopy.
Although you can’t borrow the library’s copies, you can access the magazines at home by reading them online. As well as the current issue you can read all the past issues too.
Just follow this link to access the Digital Editions.
Ask Mrs Üstün for the password, or send me an email alison.ustun@ab-ed.org

I was invited along to the science department by Dr Yeates today for the grand unboxing of this year’s Young People’s Book Prize 2024 shortlist from The Royal Society. S1 pupils will read the books in their science classes over the coming months before voting for their favourites.
Congratulations to the lucky winners of our competition! You can see some of the winning entries below 😉
We braved the snow to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at Cineworld Queens Links. It was fantastic!
I can’t believe it ended on a cliff hanger!!!

Here are some of our pupils’ book posters.
The Teachers’ Reading Challenge is over for another year. I beat my target by one book – reading 16 books from different genres.
Here are the books that I read.
You can find them displayed in the library along with other recommendations. Why don’t you try reading one.
Happy reading 😉
