Shipwrecked! Week beginning 25.09.17

Shipwrecked

Last week the Titanic sunk to her watery grave so this week we have ended up being shipwrecked on an island!

First we were given a group of items and had to create a ‘diamond 9’ showing our top 9 items we would save from a drowning Titanic shipwreck. We had to work as part of a group to discuss and decide upon our final answers.

Next we had to take part in a group problem solving challenge. Miss Dow set us different challenges/scenarios which meant that we had to create a variety of areas on our island – for example, we had to have a rocky area, an eating area and a fire camp area. All teams managed to work well together and came up with great ideas. The finished islands will be in our next blog post!

Writing

In writing this week we had to write an imaginative story describing how we had come to be on the shipwrecked island and use lots of thoughts and description to describe our feelings and experiences. Some of us were keen to share our writing with the rest of the class.

Pentagons Maths

We have been looking at information handling this week. The pentagons have been looking at creating and carrying out surveys and then using their collated results to create a bar graph. They went into the school car park to survey the colours and makes of cars with Miss White and then came back to class to create bar graphs.

The squares have been analysing and creating bar graphs too and the triangles have been reading and creating pictograms.

Gym

On a Thursday we are working on our badminton skills. This week we were focussing on our control.
