Citizenship Homework

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all having a great weekend off!  It’s sunny today, although a wee bitty cold :-).

As you know the Matthews family are new to Aberdeen, we are Scottish but have come up from the central belt.  Our class, Primary 4, are capitalizing on this for our Citizenship topic – Our City, Aberdeen, by setting me (and my family) a challenge.  And this is where we all need your help.

The children have gone home with a worksheet that should be very quick to complete.  On this worksheet they have to write their favorite places to visit in Aberdeen.  This place can be as local and inexpensive as their local play park, or something very grand like visiting the His Majesty’s Theatre.  Then they are going to challenge me on visiting ALL of these places BEFORE THE END OF PRIMARY 4!!!

Each time this is accomplished I will post a blog to prove that I have been there.  Since I have a family, these venues can be suited to the very young to the young at heart (like me).

All that needs done at home is:

  1.  A picture of the favourite place
  2. The name of the faviourite place, and
  3. One sentence explaining why it is one of their favourite places.

In the meantime, I am going back to the laundry as the sun has come out unexpectedly.  I hope your weekend is just as relaxing but maybe a wee bit more exciting!

See you on Tuesday!!!

Love

Mrs Matthews

So far this year in Citizenship, Primary 4 have been focusing on classroom behaviour and attitudes, pupil council, and target setting.  It’s now time to take our community to a bigger scale – Aberdeen!

Since I am new to Aberdeen, Primary 4 are setting me a challenge of visiting all their favourite parts of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire before the end of Primary 4!  On Monday, they will be drawing and writing me a list of places to visit.  Once I have visited their places of choice I will post a photo (as proof that I have indeed gone there) on our blog.  The children can then guess where I have been and check that area off our list.

So, their homework this weekend is to think of their 5 favourite places to go, and why they would like me to visit there.  These places can be places to eat, a tourism venue, or somewhere to sit and relax.  I do have a family and my son is in Primary 4 too, so don’t worry if one or more of their places suited to a person their age.  I am sure my son will be very happy to make sure I go!!!

Thank you for help,

Mrs Matthews
