Roger Hargreaves author study.

Roger Hargreaves was an author and illustrator from the fine county of Yorkshire. He is most famous for his “Mr Men” and “Little Miss” stories. As part of our author study, we have been reading some of his funny books and writing descriptive words about the characters.

So far the most popular character has been Mr Bump, who has kept us all entertained with his clumsy adventures.  The children particularly enjoy his habit of walking into static objects, although it should be noted that it is not advised to copy this at home or in the playground.

In the forthcoming weeks, we will be learning about Mr Bump’s friends and trying to invent our own Mr Men and Little Miss characters based on our own personalities. It should be fun!

Fraction flags

The children used laptops to design their own flag patterns based on a given fraction. A rectangle had been cut into 24 pieces and 1/2 had to be one colour and 1/2 another. I was impressed with how well the class shared their pieces evenly and how creative they were with the patterns they created. They also enjoyed using the computers.

I hope you like our flags.

Fraction pizzas

Do you like pizza? Of course you do and so do the children in Room 2. This week P1/2 turned into Pizza Express and the children became experts at finding fractions. Some of the pizzas were cut into halves and some were split into quarters. The children had to make sure that the toppings were divided equally between the sections. Well done everyone.

Nobody offered Mr Lawson a slice!
