School Uniform
At Rothesay Academy, we believe that school uniform promotes a sense of belonging, pride and readiness to learn. Our uniform expectations are:
- Black trousers or a black skirt (skirts should be no shorter than mid-thigh)
- White shirt
- Black jumper
- Black shoes or black trainers
- S1–S3 pupils wear a red tie
- S4–S6 pupils wear a blue tie
School jumpers, zip tops and hoodies can be purchased from The Bike Shed Rothesay Schoolwear Shop.
We are committed to ensuring that all young people can access school uniform. The school Hub holds a large supply of free uniform items and ties for pupils who require them. For further information, please contact our Family Liaison Officer Lynnsay Templeton: lynnsay.templeton@argyll-bute.gov.uk or visit the Hub.
We have recently introduced blazers for our S6 pupils as part of their senior leadership role within the school. At present, blazers are not available for purchase by other year groups. During August 2026, we will consult with pupils, parents and carers to gather views on whether blazers should become part of our wider school uniform in the future.
PE Kit, where possible, should be dark shorts/tracksuits/legging/
jogging bottoms and a plain T-shirt. Sports shoes should be worn at
all times. In the winter time football/rugby boots can be worn on the
grass.
To support a positive learning environment and avoid any association with particular teams or groups, football tops should not be worn to school or for PE activities.
