Scrap to Sculpture

Last Friday as part of our Art lessons we looked at the work of Eduardo Paolozzi. We tuned in to a live broadcast from The National Galleries of Scotland to lead this session. After exploring the artist a little we then created our own paper creations using only scissors with no glue or sellotape in sight! The creativity was exceptional with everyone helping each other, communicating politely and demonstrating critical thinking. We are going to follow this up in our creativity lesson this week using our French theme and transferring our art skills in to a new concept

HWB community meeting

Today we were very lucky to have Melissa Dunn from our council HWB team come along to talk to partners and pupils on what actions we can we can take in the local area with a focus on sustainability and climate. They met with our eco reps in school who went along to join in the collaboration and suggest their own ideas.

LOVE OUTDOORS:Memory Stick reflection- Part 2

This week as part of our Outdoor learning, we had fun decorating our journey sticks. We used a variety of collections from outdoors, arts and crafts and memorabilia from home. We worked together to share ideas and collaborate before getting creative! The next step is to share our journey sticks with the class reflecting on achievements, memories, challenges and growth experiences they have had this academic year.

The Rebel of Time by Craig Andrew Mooney

Today we were lucky enough to host Craig Andrew Mooney, the author behind ‘The Rebel of Time’. It was a great experience to ask Craig our questions and hear a little extract of the book from the person behind the words.

Craig shared with us his inspiration behind the main characters and shared a fascinating insight in to the writing process. Everyone was captivated and participated in hands on writing exercise guided by Craig. Pupils had the chance to experiment with writing and illustrating in pairs, exploring their own creative ideas.

This is a great way to kick off our literacy book study and plant the seed of aspiring authorship in our pupils.
