This week in Woodmuir literacy hour we have been very busy working together on our new class novel Turtle Moon. Children were predicting what the book is about, reading character descriptions and designing their own book cover!

The children had the opportunity to express their views and voice their opinions on our middle area hub. Working with their peers, communicating and collaborating, they came up with super suggestions of what they would like their hub area to look like and sound like. This is linked to our Rights Respecting article of the week, Article 12, which grants every child the right to express their views, feelings, and wishes in all matters affecting them.

This week we were very lucky to have the chance to go to the book festival with our all of our friends in school. We started the day off attending the Eco – adventurer workshop with Hannah Gold! Hannah Gold is the best selling author of the last bear. Hannah told us all about her life as an author and how she gets inspiration for her stories! We all received a free book, Turtle Moon, from Hannah and even had the chance to meet her and have our books all signed. We had a fabulous day.

A fantastic morning of laughter with lots of water fun and a movie. A lovely way to end our year and wish the p7’s all the very best for high school in August.
We will miss you all in Woodmuir primary and wish you all the best in your next adventure.
Thank you to Lachlan for superb tunes and piping out the children.

Well done to the upper class on a fabulous leavers show, Reach for the stars! The singing was super and everyone spoke very clearly and in role. A great way to finish off the term and demonstrate our talent in the arts, we wish our p7 pupils all the best in secondary school! We will miss you all at Woodmuir primary.

We had a fun whole school visit to the RHS yesterday. It was a fantastic day out in the sunshine, getting to see the cattle, sheep, horses and much more. We also had the chance to try lots of different food and participate in fun activities from the exhibitors. At the end we had ice- cream and a play time in the park! Thanks to Ms Petrie for joining us on the trip and volunteering her time to help supervise the children, we all loved having you with us.

Our final day was filled with a handful of activities including Manor Olympics, Bivi and Initiative. In Manor Olympics, the children played a variety of different games including relay races where they had mini challenges to complete, wellie throws and even some teamwork games.

In our final sessions, Bivi and Initiative, the children used their problem solving skills to build dens and complete tricky challenges. We had such a fantastic experience and we are all excited to head home to tell everyone all the exciting things we got up to!

We arrived safely at Lockerbie yesterday afternoon around 2pm and the children all managed to get settled in quickly before getting organised into our groups for our first activity. Our first activities were climbing and axe throwing which the children all really enjoyed.
In axe throwing, the children had an opportunity to throw darts and an angel axe to score points!

In climbing, the children worked together to help their group make it to the top of the climbing frame. They worked hard to make it to the top and they all gave it a go which was amazing (even Miss Martin 😄).

After dinner, we had another activity where the children enjoyed the obstacle course and some abseiling! Although the abseiling looked scary, the children gave it a go and managed it well. The obstacle course was fun and the children loved getting muddy throughout the course!! We are up and early for another fun day ahead 😁

A busy week in P1-P7. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and are ready for the busy term ahead. This week we have been creating Funky Bunnies using line and pattern, developing our music skills with Limelight music and learning outdoors in the sunshine!
