Lockerbie Camp Day 3

Our final day was filled with a handful of activities including Manor Olympics, Bivi and Initiative. In Manor Olympics, the children played a variety of different games including relay races where they had mini challenges to complete, wellie throws and even some teamwork games.

In our final sessions, Bivi and Initiative, the children used their problem solving skills to build dens and complete tricky challenges. We had such a fantastic experience and we are all excited to head home to tell everyone all the exciting things we got up to!

Lockerbie Camp Day 2

The children enjoyed a fun-filled, action packed day yesterday where they had a chance to participate in Bivi (den-building), obstacle course, initiative (problem solving tasks), axe throwing, archery, abseiling and finishing up with a camp-fire where we sang songs and toasted marshmallows. The children enjoyed all the activities and were all extremely tired by the end, so no late nights last night! One morning to go before we head back after lunch.

Art Friday

Today our creativity hour was designing word art! We were working online with the National Galleries of Scotland and two fabulous industry experts-Lorna and Liz. They talked about exploring different artwork and the use of communication and words. We then created our own word art to display around the school and even one on a small paper towel!

Lots of positive and inspiring messages of hope which uplift us! A brilliant piece of work from everyone.

Our favourite quotes!

Health and Well-being

This week P5-7 had the chance to train up in leading their own lunch time club. During session 1 we explored the skills we would need to be able to organise a games club and we talked about the different sports we might like to play. Next week it is an outside active school’s session.

During Outdoor Learning we created our own design of our favourite book using only natural materials. We are also very proud of our new Bike shed!

Sustainability Events Week

Last Thursday the P5-7 enjoyed a visit to West Lothian College with other cluster schools. We had the opportunity to participate in 2 sustainability events led by the coaches and students in the college. Our first event was sports and Handball! Then in the afternoon we participated in a climate change workshop with lots of super discussion and videos. The sun shone for us all day, meaning we could picnic lunch outside and play in the college campus! Thank you to Caroline Jarvis, the lecturers and students for our invitation to this event.

Robert Burns Cottage and Museum

On Wednesday P5-P7 had a fabulous visit to Alloway in Ayrshire to learn more about social history and the famous poet Robert Burns. We visited the flagship museum after our sunny walk that weaved through the village, along the Poet’s Path, taking us from historical buildings to landmarks known to Burns. We also stepped inside Burns Cottage after our workshop, where Robert was born in 1759. Our favourite part was dressing up in character and the interactive museum.
