Today we started to explore explanation texts and recognising the features of these texts in our library books. We will use this to help in our writing pieces tomorrow.

This morning we have had an energetic one before the holidays. We started off with Rugby learning new games and rugby skills. Then the sun shone for our morning play. We are all set for a fun morning before our Easter break and we hope all our families in Woodmuir primary have a relaxing and fun Spring break.

Today we enjoyed a morning assembly with Mr Mc Naughton talking about our vision and school values. We also had an opportunity to share our wider achievement.

Today we had a fabulous trip to the owl centre at Polkemmet Country Park. In the morning we participated in our ‘ Hoots for Dinner?’ game, then we had an orienteering type quiz, working in small groups. After lunch and play we watched the flying display and finished off with a play in the park. It was great fun and everyone represented the school very well and demonstrated our school values. We all learn in different ways and being out in our natural surroundings was a great way to complete our Bird project and make learning an adventure!

Today we worked on our fitness, throwing and catching skills with Sam. A super session where everyone worked together, showing respect and kindness to each other.

Yesterday we had a super Maths session with the whole school. Everyone was trying different methods to problem solve using addition strategies.

Our upper school children have started to provide games at lunchtime to liven up and structure the children’s play times. This helps to keep all children active, safe and happy. Today was a great success and is helping to develop our young leaders in p6/7 with a variety of leadership skills and confidence through physical activity.

Thank you to all our parents, carers and family members who visited our curriculum cafe this afternoon. We are committed to providing children with a wealth of learning experiences and we hope today we were able to showcase the variety of outdoor learning activities we have on offer at Woodmuir primary school. These sessions in school have helped to increase engagement in learning, encourage thinking, teamwork , resilience and creativity. The children sang beautifully and proudly represented our school. We greatly appreciated everyone who joined in today and participated in all the activities on offer.
