Resources

A big thank you to all our nursery parents/carers for contributing extra to the snack fund. You have raised £153.50 this term which we can spend on resources for the nursery. One of the items we are thinking of buying is a new buggy for the house corner. We will ask for your child’s votes on their favourite buggy soon and the one that gets the most votes is the one we will buy.

Supporting Parents and Children to Learn Together

We have made a new special space for our nursery parents. The idea is you can come along once a week with your children and see how easy it is to learn with your child through play.

On November 6th you can join us for our launch and see our gorgeous new space for yourself.

Come along while your child is enjoying nursery (a.m. 10.15 or p.m.12.15), see our new room, have a cuppa and a chat. Mrs Wilson and Mrs Lockhart will be there to answer any questions.

Halloween Day at Nursery on Tuesday

On 31st October you can wear a costume to nursery and there will be lots of fun Halloween activities to do.

(Please avoid masks in the Halloween outfit as some children get unsettled by them. Also clearly name all accessories to the costume e.g. broomsticks so we can find them and return them to your child more easily).

Questionnaire Response

Thank you for responding to our questionnaire of May 2017. We have noticed the results were not published on the Blog so here is a quick summary of your thoughts.

You Said

In the general comments everyone said their children liked being at the nursery and found the activities interesting. They thought the children felt at ease with the staff and there were no problems with the children’s behaviour. Everyone thought the nursery team treated the children kindly and fairly. A few thought the nursery had a poor reputation in the community although many disagreed strongly with this view.

The feedback about parental involvement was good. All parents thought that they were given opportunities to be involved in the nursery and that it had been explained the part you could play in your child’s progress.

The section about parent staff relationships was very positive. Everyone said they felt happy and comfortable when they were in the nursery except one person who only usually felt that way. Most felt suggestions and questions from parents were always encouraged, one respondent felt it was usually encouraged. Also one parent felt the team didn’t make use of the parents’ skills and time often enough.

In the overall section once more we had a very positive result with all but one parent saying that the staff let them know about their child’s good points.  Everyone thought the team was also good at letting them know what their child needs to get better at. All respondents thought the nursery team was approachable and friendly.

We will

We will try to ‘spread the word’ more about the good practice going on in our nursery so that our reputation is enhanced. We will use the Blog more frequently to publicise our activities and have our Stay & Play sessions more often so everyone can see for themselves some of the fabulous things going on.

We will utilise our parent volunteers more effectively. Already one parent volunteer regularly works on our Blog. We have plans (once all/most of the EE2 forms have been returned) to reinstate our weekly walks and have ideas about creating a story telling corner and garden work so volunteers for these areas would be fantastic. Any other suggestions are very welcome.
