We concentrated on learning numbers this week, first we had to get the number cards in the right order then we counted out blocks to just the right amount.

Aquarium
Some of the children had a great idea to use the water tray as an aquarium this week. We coloured the water a lovey sea blue and used some of the plastic sea creatures to finish the job.

Winter Wall
Next time you are in nursery come and have a look at our new winter wall, we’re using the season as inspiration to decorate our nursery and learn about winter.
I’m forever blowing bubbles….
This week we learned how to make bubbles. We created them by putting some washing up liquid, sugar and water in a bowl then used a whisk to mix it all up. Then we had fun blowing the mixture using a homemade wand.
The floor did get a wee bit slippy but we loved it.
Outdoor Play
The cold and frosty mornings doesn’t put us off going outside and enjoying the winter sun, today we used the tools in our outdoor learning area to make a tree house. The children get the benefit of some fresh air and learn some new construction skills.
Stay and Play
We had our first stay and play of the term this week which has moved back to the start of the session. If you are able to stay your child will love showing you around and you will get to see all the good work that gets done here at Deans.
The next opportunity for you to stay will be on Tuesday 26th February.
Outdoor Teamwork
We used the outdoor trim track today to enjoy some fresh air and get involved with some teamwork. You can see by the photographs how everyone helped each other on the tricky balancing equipment. Good work all round.
Learning Overview

As you know the month of December gets very busy with our Christmas Fayre (Friday 30th at 1.00) , nursery Nativity performance (12.12.18) and nursery Christmas parties (see below).
Our nursery Christmas Parties are on Monday 17.12.18. This year they are taking place in the school gym hall. We have a ‘special visitor’ who will arrive at 10.20 and 2.40. You are very welcome to come and join us at these times. Please use the main school door to be let in.
PEEP
Our PEEP group has started again and is proving to be very successful. We might still have spaces available if you would like to attend, please let one of the nursery staff know. There will be more opportunities next session if you can’t make it at the moment.
Superheroes saving the day
We had real life superheroes in nursery this week who took to the field and raised money for vital nursery funds. What a brilliant effort by everyone who took part in our sponsored walk, all that fresh air tired everyone out and the nursery was very quiet when we got back in. Once we know the total raised we’ll let you know.
