Reminder- Scottish Parent Teacher Council Training Event

***********REMINDER*********

Invitation to our FREE session

Involving All Parents
Uphall Primary School, Uphall EH52 6TE
Wednesday 26 April 2017 6pm-8pm
Refreshments from 5.45pm

All parents are welcome to attend the sessions which are run in an informal, parent-friendly way with plenty of opportunities for discussion and questions. They are a great chance to learn more about how to run your group effectively and also to meet other parents and swap ideas. This session looks at the challenges parents and carers often face in engaging with their child’s school and Parent Council and how your PC can help to overcome them, encourage more involvement in learning and the school community.
We share lots of ideas for making your Parent Council more welcoming and how to recruit more members.

To book your FREE place, go online to our Eventbrite page at https://iap_uphallprimary.eventbrite.com

Term 4 in Primary 1

We have been out and about this week. In our maths work we have been collecting data to create simple graphs and analyse our results. It was lots of fun looking for mini beasts in the playground.  It was quite difficult to find some of the minibeasts on our sheet as they were camoflaged -as pointed out by Oskari.

We went on a Spring Scavenger hunt.  It was lots of fun looking for signs of spring-we found lots of new things growing in our playground.

We hope our sunflower seeds grow soon!  We know what they need to grow, they have been watered and are now on the windowsill to get warmth and light from the sun.  Will they grow as big as us, or will they grow bigger than Mrs McKay? We can’t wait to find out!

Questioning our friends about their favourite things-more data handling.

What is your favourite colour?

What is your favourite pet?

Broxburn Library Visit

We had a lovely trip to the library this afternoon, thanks to Diane. She came and collected us from school and took us down, where we listened to two stories and sang a Scottish song.

The boys and girls know how to get a library card now and seem to be excited to visit the library during the Easter holidays!

Primary 1S Dinosaur Museum

This afternoon Primary 1 were museum guides for our visitors. We showed them our handmade fossils and clay dinosaurs, our dinosaur skeletons made from straws, and our fantastic dioramas. We also had palaeontologists digging for bones in the sand.

We had lots of good questions from our visitors and we were able to tell them how we had designed and made everything.

Ask us who our emergency palaeontologist was! It was a surprise at the end of lunchtime for everyone!

Here we are being museum guides.
