P6 Lendrick Muir – White Group

WOW, that was amazing!  If you have siblings that get on your nerves all the time, Lendrick Muir is totally for you! It’s also full of fun and amazing activities.

Archery

One of the activities that we did was Archery. We were told rules and advice for firing the arrow. The first step was to pick up the bow and turn it like a table. The next step was to pick up the arrow and slot on the bow but make sure the odd flyer is facing the sky. Then put every finger except your pinkie and your thumb on the string.  1, 2, 3, BULLS-EYE!

Low Ropes

Our next activity is Low Ropes. We had so much fun climbing, crawling and sliding. As soon as you went in the door there was a climbing wall that you had to climb up to get to a platform. On the climbing wall there were three different levels. An easy level, a medium level and a hard level. Then we crossed a bridge.  It was hard for some of us, some of us even faced our fears. After we crossed the bridge there were different ways to get down, most people chose the mine shaft – it was a  small tight tunnel with obstacles there a seesaw plank, stringy spider webs (that you got tangled up in), and camouflage nets. There were different obstacles within the course.  There were bridges, nets and a climbing, stretching and balancing zone. There was also a fireman pole and a slide…

<- Make sure you get your feet ready to step off the slide otherwise you’ll end up like this! Someone learned that the hard way.

P6 Lendrick Muir: Day 1

A great first day has been had by all at Lendrick Muir.

We had a welcome meeting as soon as we arrived where we learned all about the facilities and our activities for the week. We also learned that we have to make our own beds… our first big challenge! Then we had a scavenger hunt and got to explore some of the grounds.

We then stopped for a delicous 2-course lunch. The food is amazing here and we’re all being very well fed!

Next we split into our activity groups and had a go at lot of different activities… one highlight for all today was definitely the Inflatables! We all had a good laugh at our teachers trying the Bungee Run!

We’ve just had dinner (another yummy 2-courser!) and we’re about to settle for tonight’s entertainment… A Murder Mystery! Afterwards we’ll have some supper and (try!) to have an early night to gain plenty of rest for tomorrow’s activities.

World Book Day……ish

World Book Day was on Thursday the 2nd of March but so we could really celebrate authors, books and great stories at assembly, we postponed it till today. The whole school took part by dressing up as a character from a book that they have enjoyed. Never have I seen so many Dennis the Menaces and Wallies in one place. There was no problem in finding a Wally today! In P6K we had so many wonderful characters, from Violet Beauregarde all the way through to Harry Potter, it was a wonderful sight and for our own little Alice, Uphall had become a true wonderland.

P6K really enjoyed taking part, as you can see.

A Tribute To A Great Teacher

Today we learned the sad news that our friend and teacher, Mr Hewitt, had passed away last week.

We took some time today to celebrate his life and remember all the great things he taught us and all the laughs we had together.

We created some art tributes that we will post to his family and we will show some of these tributes on the blog at a later date.

Mr Hewitt was an amazingly talented performer and many of the P6 students mentioned how much they enjoyed his dance lessons, so we thought it would be a fitting tribute to perform the dance he taught us in his honour.

At this time we would like to send our heartfelt condolences to all of Mr Hewitt’s family and friends.  As the children said today, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

P6 Burns Assembly

On 27th January, P6 did an assembly all about Robert Burns.  We sang lots of his songs and recited lots of his poems, like ‘Tae a Mouse’. We also had some lovely soloists that sang songs that Burns wrote, like ‘Red Red Rose’.  We also had a Toast to the Lassies and the reply back to the lads.  Our performance of Tam O’ Shanter was frighteningly fun too!  Finally, we finished the assembly with a very emotional song called ‘Auld Lang Syne’.

A big well done to all of the P6 pupils for putting on an amazing assembly.  We did ourselves proud!

That’s newly sprung in June,’

Remember Tam o’ Shanter’s mare.’

After all the hard work that went into our assembly, we rewarded ourselves with some Irn Bru and shortbread!

If you weren’t able to attend the assembly, or perhaps you enjoyed it so much that you’d like to watch it again, here it is!
