P2/3 Literacy – instructions (part 3 of 3)

Friday 1st May 2020

Good morning and happy 1st of May!  Miss Anderson and I have enjoyed looking at your work that you have been e-mailing to school.  Please continue to do so at:

wluphall-ps@westlothian.org.uk

Today, I would like you to check these instructions for a STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE make sense because I think they’re in the wrong order.  I’d like to make one over the weekend but I need you to unscramble these instructions.

How to make a strawberry smoothie

You could tell someone the answers, write down the answers or copy the sentences in the correct order. You could write in your jotter, on paper, in the comments here (or on Twitter).  If you have a printer, you could print the instructions out then cut and paste in the correct order.

If you have any fruit left at home (after making fruit kebabs and funny faces), why not try making a fruit smoothie over the weekend. If you don’t have fruit you could make your own creation and share it.  I’m sure ice-cream could be used since it’s the weekend!  You might need help from a trusted adult.

Once you’re finished, please complete this short eform tell us what you think about home learning with an outdoor focus this week.  I’ll also be on Twitter today.  Any questions, please just ask!  Thank you!

P2/3 numeracy – using tally marks

Thursday 30th April 2020

Today’s Maths challenge!

If the weather clears up and you go on your daily walk can you count the number of rainbows you see?  (If it stays very wet today, perhaps use tally marks to count something around your house or garden, such as objects with each colour of the rainbow?)

Can you use tally marks to represent the quantity and total them up at the end?

Can you skip count 5s to help you calculate the total?

Don’t forget to use a diagonal line when you reach a multiple of 5

LI: I can use tally marks to represent the quantity and total them at the end

SC: I can use tally marks to represent the number of rainbows

I count the total of tally marks at the end

I can skip count in 5s

P2/3 Literacy 30th April – instructions (part 2 of 3)

Thursday 30th April 2020 – writing instructions

Good morning!  Not such nice weather today.  The perfect opportunity to stay in, make healthy snacks and do a bit of writing.  Thank you so much to those of you who posted or e-mailed your fruit kebab pictures to myself and Miss Anderson.  We love seeing your home learning photos.  Well done!

Today, I would like you to write your own instructions for the fruit kebab you made (or whatever creation you made).  You could draw each step, write down each step or draw and write each step.  You could even tell someone else how to make your fruit kebab. You can write in your jotter or on a piece of paper.

How can you make your instructions different to the ones we used yesterday?  Perhaps you used different fruits and in a different order.  Perhaps you can think of different bossy words?  If possible, please comment on the blog to let me know how you get on, tweet pictures of your work to Twitter or e-mail pictures to the school e-mail address.

I’ll also be on Twitter today.  Any questions, please just ask!  Thank you!
