Literacy

  • Our new sound today is ‘th’.

Where is the ‘th’ sound made? (Note for parents it is made light blue sound made with the tip of the tongue touching the bottom of the teeth.) It is the cheeky sound-the only time you get to stick your tongue out at your teachers!

  • Can you think of any words that use the ‘th’ sound?
  • Does the ‘th’ sound come at the start, the middle or the end of these words?
  • Slide some sounds together to form words:

thick, thin, think, thank, teeth, tooth, path, bath, cloth, with.

  • Now write these words and draw a picture to match. (Extension activity, write sentences.)
  • Videos to look at,

PE

Get active! If you can, go outside.  If you can’t, try using one of our suggested sites. We know that lots of you are loving following Joe Wicks and his keep fit routines. We are more than happy for you to do this whenever you like.

Health and Wellbeing

Spread a little kindness wherever you can-Middleton Care Home are running a competition this week for children. They would like you to create a drawing/letter/card and ask a grown up to take a photograph and post it to their Facebook page. The winner will win a handmade  fairy door.  They will print out the entries into a newspaper for the residents to look at.  This will help them to keep in touch with the outside world.

Numeracy

Look for different ways to splat the numbers

odd, even, in fives or tens, try starting with the number 1 then splat all of the numbers in the column all the way down to 91-can you see a pattern?

Have a lovely weekend, we’d love to hear from our pupils-please leave us  a message using ‘Leave a reply’ telling us what you’ve enjoyed doing this week, or perhaps something you’ve missed. Mrs McKay is missing school lunch and Miss Mackay is missing sharpening pencils!

Vowel House Story and Vowel Sounds

Here is a copy of the Vowel House story which helps pupils identify vowel sounds using actions and window shapes. The window shapes represent the shape or movement of the mouth.

The “Alternative Vowel House Sounds” link explains other ways of making the same sound.
