Another new year

Our new Primary 1 children started school today.  They look so smart in their new school uniforms and shiny new shoes!  We are desperate to see what is inside their ‘Marvellous Me’ boxes-thank you parents and carers for your input.  Today the children listened to a story called ‘The Kissing Hand’ and made a very special gift to take home . We had lots of tired boys and girls by lunchtime-Mrs McKay and Mrs Sutherland are very tired today too!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow.

We have lots to learn throughout this year and will post pictures of their first days soon.

We have also seen our grown up boys and girls from last year and are amazed at how much you have grown over summer-good luck to you all for Primary 2.

It’s A Baby

Well done to everyone involved with the nativity this year. We’ve had a very busy week with 6 performances in front of an audience. The children were very confident and enthusiastic. We might have some stars in the making! As we started learning the songs way back in October it will be refreshing to sing some Christmas songs in class! The children are very tired now and we hope that they all have a great Christmas and can recharge their batteries over the holiday period. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone in Primary 1.

Term 2 in P1M

There has been great excitement in class this week-we discovered a trail of golden Elf Dust in class on Monday and a very special letter from Ernie the Elf.  Our new topic is ‘Toys of the Past and Present’ and Ernie is going to send us weekly tasks associated with our topic.  The children are eagerly awaiting their next letter from Ernie!

Our ‘Helping Hands’ topic is now finished, the children loved learning about the important jobs people do to help us.  We were very lucky to have paramedics, a fire fighter,  a school crossing supervisor, a teacher and a lunch hall spervisor in our classroom telling us about the job they do.  The children had lots to ask and developed their questioning skills in the process!  A huge thank you to all involved from everyone in P1M.

We are now well on the way to reaching our third set of fifty tokens.  The class reward for achieving our second set of fifty tokens was to bake in class-a unanimous vote!!

We had a Judo demonstration in school on Monday, the children watched on in amazement as children were able to throw grown-ups to the floor! Letters about Judo club will be in school bags tomorrow.

Apaologies in advance-we have started to learn songs for the Christmas Nativity!

Don’t be surprised if your child starts speaking in French-we have started to learn some basic vocabulary.

à bientôt!

Learning in P1M

Our new Primary 1 children have quickly adjusted to school life and are coping well with the new routines and experiences.  They are enjoying getting to know their class mates and have been very excited to find out what is inside the collection of Marvellous Me boxes that have been created as a homework task.  We used the story of The Rainbow Fish during ‘Friendship Fortnight’ and have talked about the importance of having friends,  who our friends are, who we would like to be friends with and the qualities we look for in a friend.  We have created a class rainbow fish which is now on display in the corridor outside our classroom-pictures to follow next week!  Before the scales could be attached each child had to share their scale with another child in the class and say why they were giving the scale to that person. The children came up with some lovely reasons, these are also on display.

We were very proud when Aidan was given the very first token in the school for sitting well and trying his hardest to learn the new songs and do the corresponding actions.

Stewart was delighted to be invited along to the very first Fun Friday club-he has been an excellent role model in class, listening carefully at all times, following instructions straight away and helping to keep our classroom safe and tidy.
