P1M are very proud to introduce Nutty our class squirrel. Â We had a class vote to choose his name, we think Nutty suits him nicely. Â One child can take him home each night. Â We use a random name picker to see who will be next-it is very exciting!
Our Reward Time has taken on a Scottish twist! We sign up for our Reward Time activities at the start of the week and can choose whether to work in the P1M or P1S classroom. Â It is a great way to mix with children who are not in our class. Â The children love playing in the Post Office and have been making and writing their own post cards. Â Some children opted to do some Scottish dancing-it was lots of fun and really tired the children out!
We were lucky enough to be visited an author and illustrator. David Holt and Emma Bilston entertained us with their story, Crombie the Zombie. David told us the story and Emma showed us how to draw the main character. Crombie was sad, he was different and had no friends. Â It was a happy ending, he made friends with the boys and girls. Fly 1, Fly 2 and Fly 3 helped him to make friends, suggesting places for him to try.
The children in Primary 1 were very excited to go on their first school trip. Â Last Wednesday we went to Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Â The bus journey was very exciting-especially going over the Forth road bridge. Â The cinema was lovely-the old fashioned, squeaky seats were a real novelty. Â Unfortunately we were unable to see the film due to technical issues with the sound! Â The children did enjoy eating their snack in the cinema and the return bus journey! Â Here’s hoping our next outing will be more successful.
We used chalk and oil pastels to make bright and colourful pictures of a bonfire and fireworks. We also learned to recognise and write ‘f’ on the same day-great timing!
We have been working with our P7 buddies to remember how to keep safe this weekend. We enjoyed designing firework posters and talking about rules to remember when we are watching fireworks or near a bonfire. Â Everyone had the chance to show their poster, talk about what we most enjoyed about making the poster and tell the class one important rule to keep us safe.
Rory-never ever ever put a sparkler near to your eye.
Samuel-never play with fireworks because they could burn you.
Quin-don’t put fireworks near your face.
Katy-hold sparklers at arms length.
Emily-only grown ups should buy and light fireworks, it is safer to go to a special display.
Cory-don’t go back to a firework that didn’t work.
