We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and are all ready for the last term!!
We started the week on Tuesday welcoming everyone back and finding out what we did over the holidays.
Welly Wednesday was much warmer than our last one in the snow. We were joined by primary 1 in the woods to look for Goldilocks and the 3 bears. The nursery children took responsibility to look after the P1 children by telling them the boundaries we have in the woods. We had to find the 3 bears that were hidden in the woods. The children had great fun running around using their senses to find the bears. Children made their way back to the nursery garden and had pom bear snack to finish the session.
Thursdays P.E lesson was outdoors up on the field. The children were given the opportunity to take part in Athletics, a relay race and laps of the track.
Friday came so quickly, we went to the Assembly and found out about being resilient and how important it is to be a good friend and “a back up” for others in the nursery and the school.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

Welcome back everyone to our final term in P6/7! It’s going to be a busy one!!
This week we welcomed Miss Lydon who has joined us from the University of Glasgow and will remain with us until the end of May. She will be planning and leading some of the learning experiences this term alongside Mrs Roy.
We also welcomed 2 students from Edinburgh University who will be assisting Mr McCurdy in PE lessons this term. The focus will be athletics so come prepared for indoor and outdoor lessons. Bring a water bottle!
Our new topic will be ‘Global Goals’ and our class have been split into teams to work on researching a goal of their choice and then creating a movie about it. These movies will be premiered at our topic showcase in May – all welcome to come along!!
In writing this week Miss Lydon asked us all to imagine what our lives would be like in the year 2030 – we had some great ideas!! Mrs Roy was not happy as she was envisaging her life at an older age!!!
In literacy we have been learning about the ‘Description’ genre and next week we will have a go at writing some descriptions. We have also been looking at structure of texts.
In numeracy we had a go at investigating number patterns – square numbers, cube numbers, Pascal and Fibonacci – it was pretty tricky!
Some of our P6 pupils went to Lowport this week for an overnight stay. They all agreed that it was a great experience!
A gentle reminder that all pupils should have a separate pair of soft shoes for indoor wear to protect the flooring and for PE lessons in the gym hall. Thank you.

Tuesday was our Special person and Grandparents Day. The children loved singing to the audience and sharing learning experiences around the nursery.
We also said farewell to Mrs MacDonald today. We will all miss her in the nursery, but wish her all the best in her new adventures xx
Wednesday was Welly Wednesday, not only did we have snow, but an Easter egg hunt too!!
Thursday is P.E day and today we had a lesson with Miss Ford as Mr McCurdy looks after his new baby at home. I the morning we played duck duck goose and in the afternoon we sat in the nursery and practiced some stretching to the hungry caterpillar story.
and then it was Friday !!!
Block play, magnetic shapes, Easter collages and crackers for snack all finished off with a run around in the garden 🙂

The children have been busy this week with Easter inspired lessons.
Hopefully you have been thrilled by some of the Easter art that the children have been bringing home. When completing these activities we have been linking our learning across the curriculum. For example, to make our Easter baskets we used our knowledge of 3D shape (cubes) to help us construct our baskets. Well done everyone.
This week we met a new pupil who will be joining us after the Easter holiday we look forward to having a new member in our class family.
We have spent some time reviewing our work from this term and have evaluated our goals. We then all had a learning conversation with Mrs Currie where we discussed what learning we think we have had great success with this term and also looked at what aspect of our learning we would like to continue to develop. Lastly we discussed what our favourite lesson from this term was, it was great to spend some time talking about our favourite memories. We took a photograph of our learning conversation sheet and it has been uploaded to our One Note profile page.
Luke: I liked the squirrel game because the squirrel pops out. I was playing it with Logan and Mara and Logan made the squirrel pop out.
Roma: At the investigation station you got marshmallows and you made a constellation with them. It’s a shape that stars make. I called my constellation ‘star’.
Anna: I counted to 28 in 2’s at the numeracy station.
We watched this counting in 2’s video to help us:
Jane: I was playing with slime in the tuff tray. There was purple slime and blue slime. It felt slimy.
Michelle: At the fiddly fingers I was swirling the pipe cleaner around the sticks. I made a snake with it.
Pati: At the blue rainbow learning I was counting on in 2’s on the smart board. I bet Mrs Davenport’s score.
Amelia: At the green rainbow learning I need to read the sentence and when we read the sentence you draw the picture.
Shea: At the red rainbow learning you had to make 10 sounds with the pipe cleaners. I made the ‘n’ and ‘b’ sound.
Lucas: At the purple rainbow learning you had to draw lines on the rocket. I drew squiggly lines, dotty lines, spiraly lines an dotty lines.
Try this at home, it is trickier than you think. Find a picture but don’t colour it in – only use lines to fill the design. What other types of lines can you think of to use?
Freya: At the yellow rainbow learning you had to fill in the missing numbers when counting in 2’s like 2, 4, 6, 8.
Carter: I liked my reading book this week. It was called ‘In the Garden’. They were playing in the garden and then Kipper had the key and it was starting to glow and they had an adventure in the garden because that takes them on an adventure wasn’t there. They tried to get there but it was too late.
Rojin: We saw P6 and P7 doing their show. We got to actually see what happened to Jesus. I liked the good Samaritan part of the show.
Logan: We made an alien story on mighty writer. The alien went on a rocket to Earth. Then he went back on his rocket and went back to his planet and put a flag on it.
Can you remember what happened in your alien story?
Paul: In the 20 green bottles song, if 1 fell there would be 19 left then another 1 fell and there would 18. It went all the way down to 0.
We listened to the 10 green bottles song below, and then to make it a bit more challenging we thought about what would happen if there were 20 green bottles! Here is the song we used to begin with:
Layla: Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon.
Mara: We learned about Easter in Spain. There are lots of eggs. We saw videos of people carrying something heavy. Here is one of the videos we watched about the Easter procession:
Igor: We went on an egg hunt in the nursery and we need to find the egg. Then we eat it. It was chocolate and yummy.
Cordelle: I made a symmetrical picture with peg boards. That means it’s the same on both sides.

This week in P5D we have been working really hard.
We have been learning all about ‘Building Resilience’ and this week, worked in pairs to create a SWAY presentation to share what we have learned. Using SWAY was something new for lots of people in our class.
“It was fun to change the designs.” – Kasia

“It was fun working with a partner because it made it a little easier!” – Maliha
We were having a chat about the importance of having a positive attitude and a growth mind-set. We made quote posters that we will display all around our classroom just to remind us how great we are.
In maths, we completed our fractions block with an assessment and have moved on to learning about negative numbers. We have discovered that you can find negative numbers in everyday life situations like in bank accounts (unfortunately), elevators/lifts in buildings, when reading the temperature and maybe when playing games. We enjoyed playing a ‘tug of war’ style board game using negative numbers.
“It was fun doing fractions and I liked playing the tug of war too.” – Zuzanna
“In tug of war it was fun competing against each other!” – Angel
In PE, we have been working on our fitness and stamina with Miss Ford and completed a Joe Wicks workout. Some of our muscles were sore the next day!
We also played games of tennis with a partner but also played doubles.
A highlight of our week was when we attended the P6 and 7 dress rehearsal of ‘The Gospel Show’!
