Good morning,

Another day of fun and learning lies ahead. What will you do today?  Yesterday early evening I was outside in my garden, even though it was very windy, planting some seeds to grow corn flowers as well as other wild flowers.  Have you ever planted some seeds.  I’ll keep you informed of their progress over the coming weeks.

How are you getting on with the alien story? I finished my story yesterday but I think I made a few mistakes again. Can you spot them?

A little green alien wif a fluffy tail went on A rocket. (2 mistakes)

the rocket was fast and took the alien to the beach. (1 mistake)

At the beach thi alien went in the sea for a swim (2 mistakes)

“i love the beach”, said the alien, hee didn’t want to go back to the moon. (2 mistakes)

Literacy

On a device find the ‘phonics bloom website’. At the top of the page select the button ‘phonics games’.

I would suggest picking phase 2.

When you are playing games you may wish to select phase 1 if some sounds are too tricky or select phase 3 if you need more of a challenge.

There are lots of different free phonics games for you to play – I think that the game ‘match cards’ is a great game too. It will develop your reading skills. The link below will take you straight to the ‘match cards’ game.

Have a go at counting in 10’s at home. I have attached a counting in 10’s worksheet below for you to have a go at too. Be careful because some of the counting sequences go from smallest to largest and others largest to smallest.

When out for your daily walk use your 5 senses to write down on a piece of paper one or two things that you could put into a Sense Poem. You can then write this poem either in your jotter or one note. You can then illustrate your poem. The layout could be as below.

We are learning about the events of Easter Sunday.

Watch the above clip and focus on the story of the empty tomb. Learn that when we die we have eternal life in Heaven with God.

Can you create your own art picture showing the empty tomb?

For a challenge, can you find a way to make the stone roll from your picture?

How are you getting on with Number Talks? Can you name  any of the strategies you have used to work them out? Here are some ideas:

This is our first week back after Easter. I loved the treasure hunt challenge from one of our previous blog posts.

Try and find something in your house that begins with each of the letters in Easter, such as eggs, armchair etc.

You could take a picture of your objects and send to the school email account or draw pictures and label them in your jotter.

Numeracy

I have set up a Sumdog Challenge for all of you. It focuses on number words up to 20, such as two, fourteen etc. It is open for you to complete from today and closes at 3pm on Thursday.

Your log in details are in your home learning bags and your jotters that you received before the school closed. You have until Friday to complete it. Good luck!

I had a little go at sorting some toys into push and pull  categories, here are some of my ideas:

Literacy

It is important when you write a lowercase letter j that it hangs below the line.  Look at this image showing both the capital and lowercase j.  In your jotter you can also try writing the capital letter J.  Some of the months of the year start with a capital J eg January, June, July.

Numeracy

I have set a Sumdog challenge for you to try.  It is called Number Word challenge and it focuses on the learning the words that go with each number up to twenty, for example,

9 is written and spelled as nine

Some of the number words can be sounded out but others are sight words that you need to learn.  The challenge opens today at 9am and closes on Thursday at 3pm.
