Parental Involvement Survey

Please find below, a link to a survey for parents and carers regarding levels of parental involvement.

https://www.esurveycreator.co.uk/s/PIStrategySurvey

The survey contains only five statements to rate strongly disagree to strongly agree – there is also space to add comments if you wish.

West Lothian Council  are gathering this evidence purely to help inform an updated West Lothian Parental Involvement Strategy.

The closing date is 11th December.

Parents from every school in West Lothian will be invited to take part in the survey but there is a drop down box to select St Ninian’s. It would be great to have a high uptake from our school!

Thank you.

Christmas Fair

Thanks to everyone who came and supported the Christmas Fair – ho ho I think it was a great success! We hope you enjoyed seeing Santa, listening to the choir, playing our festive games and winning some lovely prizes as well as snapping up some festive gifts for friends and family. Here are a selection of pictures we took. Thank you all so so very much for your generous donations – we can’t thank you enough…! And finally, thank you to all the helpers and staff who manned the stalls, wore silly outfits and made the whole event such a success.

We raised a whopping £1,231!!!. This is a great amount of money which will go towards making further improvements to the school playground.

Now the count down to Christmas begins….!

We are delighted to share that St Ninian’s and Dedridge Primary won the award for Team of the Year – Sport at this year’s West Lothian Council Stellar Awards.

The award recognises the school’s commitment to sport,  our sporting achievements and the hard work of our Sport Scotland Committee in supporting Mr McCurdy to enhance our after school sport provision.

This is a great achievement for the both schools and the local community. Well done to everyone involved.

What’s your child’s favourite bedtime story?

A woman reads a story to her child. A recent survey found that a third of parents never read a bedtime story to their children.

In our November newsletter I shared an article from The Guardian newspaper which outlined research around bedtime stories being key to developing a love of reading in children and key to their literacy progress. The article can be found at http://gu.com/p/4cjj3/sbl .

I absolutely love that special time in the evening with my little girl when we read (and re-read) her favourite bedtime stories. It’s great to see her so positive about books at such an early age and I love when she ‘reads’ the story back to me! Her favourite story just now is Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson. Have you read it? It’s a really catchy story with beautiful illustrations and a wonderful ending.

What’s your child’s favourite story? I’d love to hear all about it!
