P6 and all that language…

This week we celebrated European Languages Day (26th September) a little early with several tasks on top of our normal language learning.

We looked at the way different languages write down the various sounds that animals make. Some were very very different to English.

We also worked on the different parts of a tree and the words various languages also use for these. Mr Eden likes Finnish the most. and the word “lehti” for leaf. He also taught us thank you in Finnish, ‘kiitos’.

We also finalised our character designs for promoting recycling that have been our part of the school-wide Leavenseat Competition entry this year.

We drew out our characters and put them up on the wall and had an anonymous vote.

We were looking for our top three and our winners were….

Look out for them as we start to use them around school.

Our Spanish this week has been all about revising our colours and how to express our preferences.

For Leader in Me this week, we focused on self-regulation strategies to use when we feel strong emotions. Invite your learner to teach you calming strategies. Practice them together!
